Guidelines for the Award

DR. T.S. THIND Distinguished Plant Pathologist Award
 (Last Date to apply is 10th October, 2019)

Indian Society of Plant Pathologists has instituted ‘Dr. T. S. Thind Outstanding/Distinguished Plant Pathologist Award’ to recognize the contributions of dedicated scientists who have devoted their long career to the advancement of the science of plant pathology. The INSOPP will invite nominations for the award every year and it will be given to one such scientist, found most deserving by the selection committee, in the annual meeting of the Society.

Eligibility and Criteria
1.   The nominee should be a senior scientist between age of 55-65 in a university/institute/organization having worked in any area of plant pathology and related fields for several years.
2.   The nominee should have made highly significant contributions in basic and applied plant pathology leading to better understanding about plant diseases and their management for enhanced agricultural production. The work of the nominee should have been widely cited and appreciated by the other workers.
3.The decision of the award committee will be final.

Nomination Procedure
1. Two well known plant pathologists who are familiar with the work of the scientist will nominate him/her for the award by giving one page statement justifying the nomination along with detailed biodata of the scientist with list of publications.
2. Award committee members can also nominate a scientist by providing relevant information about the nominee.

Award
The award will consist of a shawl, a memento and a citation. The INSOPP will bear all reasonable costs related to travel (2nd AC one ticket), lodging and boarding of the nominee in connection with the award presentation. The award will be presented during the inaugural function of the annual conference going to be held on 16-17th December, 2019 at Tamil Nadu Agricultural University, Coimbatore. The selected nominee will also deliver a lecture related to his/her area of work.

The nomination with resume of the scientist and nominator’s statement is to be sent to the Secretary, Indian Society of Plant Pathologists, Department of Plant Pathology, Punjab Agricultural University, and Ludhiana 141004 by registered post or through E-mail to: [email protected] before 10th October, 2019.
